  • 5/10 – Tobit 5:10-21 and Tobit 6:1 – How do we combine in our lives reasonable worries and at the same time trust in God and in other people? Prayer starter: Lord, at times the worries overpower me to the point of removing all the joy from my life; increase my trust in you.
  • 5/11 – Tobit 6:2-9 – Did you ever experience how what appears to be a threat and a problem suddenly turns into something positive? Prayer starter: Lord, I thank you for guiding me on the road of life with its obstacles, its surprise, and its new discoveries.
  • 5/12 – Tobit 6:10-18 – Do I believe that God has a project for each one of us, and that he loved us before the world was made? Prayer starter: Lord, I trust that you know me better than I know myself, and that you plan what is best for me.
  • 5/13 – Tobit 7:1-8 – How grateful am I to family and relatives who have given me so many signs they care about me? Prayer starter: Lord, I thank you for my parents and so, many members of my family who care about me, who are always ready to welcome me home.
  • 5/14 – Tobit 7:9-17 – Am I prepared to let go of loved ones for their own journey in life? Prayer starter: Lord, I worry so much about my children. I want them to be happy in their relationships. But I have to trust them: They are adults now and I also trust that you look after them.
  • 5/15 – Tobit 8:1-9 – How do I live my relationships with others: spouse, family, or friends? Prayer starter: I thank you, Lord, for the people I love and with whom I can share the joys and sorrows of life.

Bible Study for the Fifth Week of Easter

  • 5/3 – Tobit 2:11-14 – Can I trust the word of another person, or am I inclined to be suspicious of what they say and do? Prayer starter: Lord, make me a peacemaker who tries to understand others, just as you are always ready to accept me.
  • 5/4 – Tobit 3:1-6 – When things go wrong in our lives, are we inclined to accuse God or others, instead of looking at ourselves first? Prayer starter: You are righteous O Lord … so now deal with me, as you will.
  • 5/5 – Tobit 3:7-10 – What is our respect for life? Do we believe that, unlike God, we do not have the right over life and death? Prayer starter: Lord, make me aware of how my behavior may offend you and cause deep pain in the hearts of those I love most.
  • 5/6 – Tobit 3:11-15 – Do we at times try to manipulate God to obtain what we want, or do we trust that God knows better what is good for us? Prayer starter: “Father, if you are willing remove this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done.”
  • 5/7 – Tobit 3:16-I7 – Do I expect immediate results from prayer or do I trust in God’s will and plan for me? Prayer starter: Lord, I often get discouraged when my prayer is not heard immediately. Increase my trust in you since you know and want what is best for me.
  • 5/8 – Tobit 4 – How do I care for my parents when they get older and need more attention and support? Prayer starter: Lord teach me to put spiritual values above material ones and to share this opinion with my children.

May Devotions and Mother’s Day

May is the Month for Devotions to our Blessed Mother Mary. We keep this tradition in our parish in honoring the Virgin Mother for her dedication and sacrifice of life to become the Theotokos, the Godbearer, for us.

These devotions will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 5th, 12th, 19th, and close with a service on Wednesday, May 26th. All services will be at 7pm.

It is hoped that these evenings in the month will be kept open so as to come and give thanks for Mary being our Blessed Mother, the example of purity of life, and to take time to celebrate her inspiration.

“Pray for us, O Holy Mother of
God, that we may be worthy of the
Promises of Christ!”

On Mothers’ Day we will begin our prayer with the “crowning of Mary” and dedicate our prayers to those mothers who are with us and those who have been called to eternal life. A light breakfast is scheduled to honor our moms on this Sunday.
