Jesus Encountered in the Doorway of the Sacraments

Jesus left us the Holy Sacraments as a means of encountering Him and His grace in ways we can physically perceive by sight, sound, touch, and taste.

Our Holy Church preserves the following sacraments:

  1. Baptism / Confirmation (one sacrament in two parts)
  2. Holy Communion (receiving the very bloody and blood of Jesus)
  3. Word of God (God’s word proclaimed and taught)
  4. Penance (forgiveness of sin and amendment of life)
  5. Marriage (sacramentally administered by a priest or bishop)
  6. Holy Orders (diaconate, priesthood, episcopacy – reserved only to men)
  7. Extreme Unction / Anointing of the Sick (for healing and for special graces when one is approaching death)

A person properly prepared receives three sacraments at every Holy Mass. These are Penance, the Word of God, and Holy Communion.

The Sacrament of penance’s healing and cleansing is administered by the priest at the beginning of each Holy Mass. Before Holy Mass begins, congregants perform a private examination of conscience (there is a guide in the pew missal). As Holy Mass begins, congregants directly and privately confess to God. They are given a penance. They are absolved of all sinfulness.

Any Baptized Christian who believes in the true presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist is invited to partake of this Holy Sacrament. They must have prepared themselves through the Sacrament of Penance. It is the practice of the PNCC to distribute the Holy Eucharist through the method of intinction. The Body of Christ is immersed into the Precious Blood. It is placed on the tongue and not in the hand of the communicant. Join us and come be one with our Lord in receiving His body and blood.
