Bible Study for the Fifth Week of Easter

  • 5/2 – Tobit 2:9-10 – How do I cope with sickness? And do I care about the sick around me? Prayer starter: So often I am blind because I cannot or do not want to see. Lord, open my eyes to the needs of the people around me.
  • 5/3 – Tobit 2:11-14 – Can I trust the word of another person, or am I inclined to be suspicious of what they say and do? Prayer starter: Lord, make me a peacemaker who tries to understand others, just as you are always ready to accept me.
  • 5/4 – Tobit 3:1-6 – When things go wrong in our lives, are we inclined to accuse God or others, instead of looking at ourselves first? Prayer starter: You are righteous O Lord … so now deal with me, as you will.
  • 5/5 – Tobit 3:7-10 – What is our respect for life? Do we believe that, unlike God, we do not have the right over life and death? Prayer starter: Lord, make me aware of how my behavior may offend you and cause deep pain in the hearts of those I love most.
  • 5/6 – Tobit 3:11-15 – Do we at times try to manipulate God to obtain what we want, or do we trust that God knows better what is good for us? Prayer starter: “Father, if you are willing remove this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done.”
  • 5/7 – Tobit 3:16-I7 – Do I expect immediate results from prayer or do I trust in God’s will and plan for me? Prayer starter: Lord, I often get discouraged when my prayer is not heard immediately. Increase my trust in you since you know and want what is best for me.
  • 5/8 – Tobit 4 – How do I care for my parents when they get older and need more attention and support? Prayer starter: Lord teach me to put spiritual values above material ones and to share this opinion with my children.
